Chapter on what Came Regarding the Two-Faced Person

The statement of Allh Tal in the yah,

When they meet those who believe, they say: We believe;1 (al-Baqarah 2/14)

And He Tals statement in the yah,

(They are) distracted in mind even in the midst of it.2 (an-Nis 4/143)

It is narrated from both of them (al-Bukhr and Muslim) from Ab Hurayrah (Radiyallhu Anh) in a Marf Hadth,

You will find that the worst of people (in the sight of Allh) are the two-faced people who come to these people with one those with another face. (al-Bukhr, 6058; Muslim, 2526)

It is narrated from Anas (Radiyallhu Anh) in a Marf Hadth,

He who is two-faced (in this world), Allh will make him two tongues of fire on Yawmul Qiymah (the Day of Resurrection). (narrated from another Sahbah named Ammr bin Ysir in Ab Dwd, 4873)

Footnotes:

1- The yah in full reads,

When they meet those who believe, they say: We believe; but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say: We are really with you: We (were) only jesting. (al-Baqarah 2/14)

2- The yah in full reads,

(They are) distracted in mind even in the midst of it,- being (sincerely) for neither one group nor for another whom Allh leaves straying,- never wilt thou find for him the way. (an-Nis 4/143)
Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah (Rahimahullh) stated,

Chapter on what Came Regarding Calumny

The statement of Allh Tal,

A slanderer, going about with calumnies. (al-Qalam 68/11)

It is narrated from Hudhayfah (Radiyallhu Anh) in a Marf Hadth,

The calumniator (tale-bearer) will not enter Jannah (Paradise). (Muslim Hadth no. 105)

It is narrated from both of them (al-Bukhr and Muslim) in the Hadth of al-Qabrayn (the two-graves),

Verily, they are not being punished for a great thing (in the peoples sight): indeed it (their sins) are great (in the sight of Allh). As for one of them, he did not free himself from (being soiled) with urine. As for the other, he would go about with calumnies (to make enmity between friends). (al-Bukhr, Hadth no. 218, 1361; Muslim, Hadth no. 292)

It is narrated from Muslim from Ibnu Masd (Radiyallhu Anh) in a Marf Hadth,

Should I inform you what slandering is? It is calumny: tale-carrying between people. (Muslim, Hadth no. 2606)
Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah (Rahimahullh) stated,

"The lim (scholar) recognizes the Jhil (ignorant) since he was once a Jhil. The Jhil does not recognize the lim since he has never been an lim." (Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah, Majm'ul Fatw, 13/235)

Chapter on what Came Regarding Slandering

The statement of Allh Tal in the yah,

And those who annoy believing men and women...1 (al-Ahzb 33/58)

It is narrated from Ibnu Umar (Radiyallhu Anhum) in a Marf Hadth,

Whoever makes an untruthful accusation against a Mumin (believer), Allh will abide him in Radghatul Khabl until he retracts his statement. [It was said, O Raslullh! What is Radghatul Khabl? He said, The drippings of Ahlun Nr (the people of the fire, i.e. Jahannam).2]3 Ab Dwd narrated it with its Sanad (chain of narration).

It is narrated from Muslim from Ab Hurayrah (Radiyallhu Tal Anh) in a Marf Hadth,

Do you know what is backbiting? They (the Sahbah) said: Allh and His Rasl know best. He (Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam) said, Mentioning your brother by that which he does not like. It was said, Even if what I say is (actually) in my brother? He said, If what you say is (actually) found in him, then you have backbitten him, and if what you say is not found in him, then you have slandered him. (Muslim, Hadth no: 2589)

And those who annoy believing men and women undeservedly, bear (on themselves) a calumny and a glaring sin (al-Ahzb 33/58)

2- Al-Awz (Rahimahullh) stated that Radghatul Khabl is The pus of Ahlun Nr. (at-Tabarn, Mujamul Kabr, Hadth no: 14550)

Chapter on what Came Regarding Cursing

It is narrated from Abd Dard Radiyallhu Tal Anh in a Marf Hadth,

When a servant curses anything, the curse goes up to the Sam (heaven), thus the gates of the Sam (heaven) are locked against it. Then it comes down to the Ardh (earth), so the gates of the Ardh are locked against it. Then it goes right and left: when it finds no place of entrance it returns to the thing which was cursed, and if it deserves what was said (it enters it), otherwise it returns to the one who uttered it. (Ab Dwd, Hadth no. 4905)

Ab Dwd narrated it with a Jayyid (good) Sanad (chain of narration). It also has a witness with Ahmad in a Hasan (good) Sanad from the Hadth of Ibnu Masd. Ab Dwd and other than him also recorded it from the Hadth of Ibnu Masd: its narration is Thiqt (reliable); however, it is defected by transmission.

It is narrated from Muslim from Ab Barzah Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth that a women cursed her she-camel. So Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

The she-camel that has been cursed should not accompany us. (Muslim, Hadh no. 48, with slightly different wording, 47, 2595, 3006-3014)

It is also narrated from him (Muslim) from Imrn and others.

Whosoever hears something from a man which he would not like to be mentioned: then it is a trust upon him (the listener), even if he was not asked to keep it a secret. (Musnad Ahmad, Hadth no. 27509)

Chapter on the Prohibition on Interceeding in the Hudd (pl. of Hadd; Punishment Prescribed by the Sharah)

And the statement of Allhu Tal in the yah,

Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allh (an-Nr 24/2)

It is narrated from both of them (al-Bukhr and Muslim) in the Hadth of Khuzaymah,

Do you intercede in a Hadd (prescribed punishment) from amongst the Hudd of Allh? (al-Bukhr, Hadth no: 3475; Muslim, Hadth no: 1688)

And it is narrated in the Muwatta (of Imm Mlik) from az-Zubayr (Radiyallhu Anh):

When the case reaches the ruler (and he inflects a prescribed punishment based on the apparent evidence), Allh will curse the intercessor and the one for whom he intercedes. (al-Muwatta, version of Abdul Bq, 2/835; version of al-Adham, 5/1221; version of Ab Musab az-Zuhr, 2/43)

It is also narrated from Ibnu Umar (Radiyallhu Anh) in a Marf Hadth,

Whoevers intercession becomes as an obstacle to one of the punishments prescribed by Allh being enacted, then he has opposed Allh in His command. (Ab Dwd, Hadth no: 3597)
Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah (Rahimahullh) stated,

Chapter on the One who Assists in a Dispute Unjustly

The statement of Allhu Tal in the yah,

Help ye one another in righteousness and piety, but help ye not one another in sin and rancor (al-Midah 5/2)

Also His statement in the yah,

Whoever interceded in a good cause becomes a partner therein: And whoever recommends and helps an evil cause, shares in its burden (an-Nis 4/86)

It is narrated from Ibnu Umar Radiyallhu Anhum in a Marf Hadth,

If anyones intercession intervenes as an obstacle to one of the punishments from the punishments prescribed by Allh, he has opposed Allh in His command. Whoever disputes unjustly knowing that it is false, he remains in the displeasure of Allh until he abstains from it. And whoever says something regarding a Muslim which is not found in him, he will be imprisoned in Radghatul Khabl until he retracts his statement. It was said, O Raslullh! What is Radghatul Khabl? He said, The drippings of Ahlun Nr (the people of the fire, i.e. Jahannam). (Ab Dwd with slight differences in wording, Hadth no: 3597)

And in another narration,

And whoever assists in a dispute unjustly, he has drawn the wrath of Allh upon himself. (Ab Dwd with slight differences in wording, Hadth no: 3597-3598)

Ab Dwd narrated it with a Sahh (sound) Sanad (chain of narration).

Chapter on what makes one Cautious from Speaking during Fitan (pl. of Fitnah; Trials and Tribulations)

It is narrated from Ibnu Umar Radiyallhu Anhuhm in a Marf Hadth,

There will be a Fitnah which will wipe out the Arabs. Its dead will be in the Nr (hell-fire). During it, the tongue will be more severe than the blow of the sword. (at-Tirmidh, Hadth no: 2178; Ab Dwd, Hadth no: 4265; Ibnu Mjah, Hadth no: 3967)

It was narrated by Ab Dwd.

It was also narrated from him (Ab Dwd), from Ab Hurayrah Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth,

There will be a Fitnah (wherein the people will be) deaf, dumb, and blind (regarding what is right). The tongue during it will be like the blow of the sword. (Ab Dwd, Hadth no: 4264)
Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah (Rahimahullh) stated,

"The lim (scholar) recognizes the Jhil (ignorant) since he was once a Jhil. The Jhil does not recognize the lim since he has never been an lim." (Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah, Majm'ul Fatw, 13/235)

Chapter on the Statement, The People Have Perished

It is narrated from Ab Hurayrah Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth,

When a man says, the people are ruined, he is the most ruined amongst them. (Muslim, Hadth no: 2623)

It was narrated by Muslim.

Chapter on Boasting

The statement of Allhu Tal in the yah,

I am better than he.1 (al-Arf 7/12)

It is narrated from Iydh bin Himr Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth,

Verily, Allhu Tal has revealed to me that you should behave humbly, so that nobody should be haughty over the other, and that nobody should transgress against another. (Muslim, Hadth no: 2865)

It was narrated by Muslim.

It was also narrated from him, from Ab Mlik al-Ashar that he said: Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

There are four matters in my Ummah (nation) that are from the matters of Jhiliyyah (pre-lslmic days of ignorance) which the people will not leave: Boasting of ancestry, slandering the lineage (of others), Istisq (seeking rain) by the stars, and wailing over the dead.

He Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said, If the wailing woman does not repent before she dies, she will be made to stand on Yawmul Qiymah (the Day of Resurrection) while wearing a dress of tar and an armour of mange. (Muslim, Hadth no: 934)

And it is narrated in at-Tirmidh, and he graded it Hasan (good),

People should stop boasting about their fathers who have died, however, they (their fathers) are the charcoal of Jahannam (Hell), or they will certainly be more humiliated with Allh than the dung beetle. Verily, Allh has removed the Ubbiyyah of Jhiliyyah and its boasting about lineage from you. (Indeed, a person is either) a Muttaq (pious) Mumin (believer), or a Shaq (miserable) Fjir (sinner). People are the children of dam, and dam was created from dust. (at-Tirmidh, Hadth no: 3955)

Ubbiyyah with Tashdd of the B while it carrying a Kasrah is pride and boasting.

Quote
Footnotes:

1 Allhu Tal states,

It is We Who created you and gave you shape; then We bade the angels prostrate to dam, and they prostrated; not so Ibls; He refused to be of those who bow down. (Allh) said: What prevented thee from bowing down when I commanded thee? He said: I am better than he: Thou didst create me from fire, and him from clay. (al-Arf 7/11-12)

Chapter on Slandering the Lineage (of others)

It is narrated from Ab Hurayrah Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth,

Two (things) are found among people which are tantamount to Kufr for those who indulge in them: slandering the lineage (of others) and wailing over the dead. (Muslim, Hadth no: 67)
Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah (Rahimahullh) stated,

"The lim (scholar) recognizes the Jhil (ignorant) since he was once a Jhil. The Jhil does not recognize the lim since he has never been an lim." (Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah, Majm'ul Fatw, 13/235)

Chapter on the One Who Claims an Ancestry which is not His

It is narrated from both of them (i.e. al-Bukhr and Muslim) from Sad (bin Ab Waqqs) Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth,

Whoever claims (to be from) other than his father while he knows that he is not his father; then Jannah is forbidden (for him). (al-Bukhr, Hadth no: 6766; Muslim, Hadth no: 63)

It is narrated from both of them from Ab Hurayrah Radiyallhu Anh from the Nab Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam,

Do not deny your fathers, (i.e. claim to be the sons of persons other than your fathers), for he who denies his (biological) father is a Kfir. (al-Bukhr, Hadth no: 6768; Muslim, Hadth no: 62)

It is also narrated from both of them, from Al (bin Ab Tlib) Radiyallhu Anh narrated in a Marf Hadth,

Whoever claims to (be the son of) other than his father, (or claims to be) attached to other than his clientele; then upon him is the curse of Allh, the angels, and all of humanity. On Yawmul Qiymah (the Day of Judgement), Allh will not accept any repentance/obligatory acts or ransom/supererogatory acts from him. (Muslim, Hadth no: 1370)
Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah (Rahimahullh) stated,

Chapter on the One Who Denies His Lineage

It is narrated from Amr bin Shuayb from his father from his grandfather in a Marf Hadth,

The one who denies his lineage -even if he is accurate- or claims an unknown ancestry has committed Kufr (disbelieved).

At-Tabarni also narrated something similar in meaning in the Hadth of Ab Bakr as-Siddq Radiyallhu Anh (al-Mujamul Awsat, Hadth no: 8575).

Ab Dwd and Ibnu Hibbn have (narrated) from Ab Hurayrah Radiyallhu anh in a Marf Hadth,

Any woman who includes to her family one who does not belong to it, then she has nothing to do with Allh (i.e. expects no mercy from Allh), and Allh will not enter her into His Jannah (paradise). And no man denies his son while looking at him (knowing that he is his biological son), except that Allh will veil Himself from him on Yawmul Qiymah (the Day of Judgement), and Allh will expose him in front of the creation, from their first to their last. (an-Nas, Hadth no. 3481; Ab Dwd Hadth no. 2263; Ibnu Hibbn Hadth no. 4108)

Chapter on the One Who Claims what is not His, and the One Who Transgresses in Quarrels

Regarding this is the Hadth of Ibn Umar Radiyallhu Anhum, and it was also narrated from Ibn Masd and Umar Radiyallhu Anhum:

Whoever Claims: I am a (perfect) Mumin is certainly a Kfir. And whoever says that he is (surely) in Jannah (paradise), then he is in the Nr (fire; hellfire). And whoever says that he is an lim (scholar), then he is a Jhil (ignorant). (Ibnu Kathr, Tafsr, 2/332 an-Nis 4/39; Ibnu Kathr, Musnadul Frq, 2/574; with similar narration: at-Tabarn, Mujamus Saghr, 1/120)

It is narrated from both of them (i.e. al-Bukhr and Muslim) on the authority of Ab Dharr Radiyallhu Anh that he heard Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam saying,

There is nothing except Kufr for the one who knowingly claims the one who is not his father as his father. And whoever claims that which is not his is not from us, then he should get ready for his seat in the Nr. And there is nothing for the one who accuses a Muslim with Kufr (declares Takfr and says that he is a Kfir) or calls him, O Aduwwullh (enemy of Allh)! while he is not except that his statement returns to him. (slightly different wording an-Nawaw, Riydhus Slihn, 1805; al-Bukhr, al-Adabul Mufrad, 433)

Chapter on Claiming Ilm (Sacred-Knowledge) with Pride

It is narrated from Ibnu Umar Radiyallhu Anhum in a Marf Hadth,

Islm will manifest until the merchants branch off across the seas and until the horses wade into water (fighting) in the cause of Allh. Then, a group of people who recite the Qurn will appear and say, Who can recite better than us? Who knows better than us? Who is more knowledgeable (in religion) than us? Then he Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said, Is there any good in these people? They (the companions) said, Allh and His Messenger know best. He Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said, These people are from amongst you -from amongst this Ummah (Nation)- and these people are the fuel of an-Nr (fire; hellfire).

Al-Bazzr narrated this with a fine Sanad (chain). And at-Tabarn narrated something with the same meaning from Ibnu Abbs Radiyallhu Anhum. Al-Mundhir said, Its Isnd (chain of narration) is Hasan (good).

Chapter on the Mention of Being Ungrateful

It is narrated in as-Sahh from Ibnu Abbs Radiyallhu Anhum in a Marf Hadth that the Nab Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

I entered the Nr (Hell-fire), and I saw that the majority of its people were women who were ungrateful. It was said, Do they disbelieve in Allh? He Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said, No, They are ungrateful to their companions and are ungrateful for the good done to them. If you had been good to one of them for a long time and then she sees something from you which she dislikes, she would say, I never saw anything good from you! (With similar wording in al-Bukhr, Hadth no. 29, 1052, 5197; Muslim, Hadth no. 907)

It is also narrated from Ab Hurayrah Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth,

The one who does not thank people will not thank Allh (Ab Dwd, Hadth no. 4811; with similar wording in at-Tirmdh, Hadth no. 1954, 1955)

At-Tirmidh graded it Sahh (sound), and he said that it is Hasan Gharb (a good Hadth that is strange to come from this chain of narration).

It is also narrated from Jbir Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth,

Whoever is given something, he should offer (a similar thing in return) if he has the means. And whoever does not have the means, then he should praise him; for verily praising is being grateful. Thus, if he has praised him; then he has been grateful. And whoever withholds praising him; then he has been ungrateful. (With similar wording in at-Tirmdh, Hadth no. 2034; Ab Dwd, Hadth no. 4813).

Chapter on what Came Regarding Criticizing the People who Obey Allh and Making Fun of Their Weakness

It is narrated from Ibn Masd Radiyallhu Anh that he said,

When the yah (verse) of Sadaqah (charity) was revealed, we used to we used to carry loads on our backs (to earn something that we could give away in charity). So a man came and gave a large amount in charity. So the people said, (He is) a hypocrite! Another man came and gave a S (four handfuls; about 2.175kg.) in charity. So the people said, Indeed Allah is not in need of one S! So the statement of Allhu Tal was revealed,

Those who criticize the contributors among the believers concerning (their) charities and (criticize) the ones who find nothing (to spend) except their effort[1] (at-Tawbah 9/79) (with similar wording in al-Bukhr, Hadth no. 1415, 4668; Muslim, 1018)
 1. The yah in full reads,

Those who criticize the contributors among the believers concerning (their) charities and (criticize) the ones who find nothing (to spend) except their effort, so they mock at them (believers), Allh will throw back their mockery on them, and they shall have a painful torment. (at-Tawbah 9/79)

Chapter on Ridiculing

And the statement of Allhu Tal,

Verily! (During the worldly life,) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. And when they passed by them, they used to wink one to another (in mockery). (al-Mutaffifn 83/29-30)

And His statement in the yah,

But you took them in mockery (Muminn 23/110)[1]

And His statement in the yah,

O you who believe! Let not a group ridicule another group (Hujurt 49/11)[2]

It is narrated from al-Hasan (al-Basr) Radiyallhu anh that Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

Verily, a door in Jannah (paradise) will be opened in the khirah (hereafter) for one of those who ridicule people. It will be said to him, Come! and he will come (towards it) with grief and anxiety. So when he reaches it, the door will close without him (entering it). Then another door will be opened for him, and it will be said to him Come! Come! and he will come (towards it) with grief and anxiety. Thus when he reaches it, the door will close without him (entering it). This will continue in that manner until one of them (the angels) open a door from amongst the doors of Jannah for him. Thereupon, it will be said to him, Come! he will not come to it because of sorrow. (with similar wording, al-Bayhaq Shuabul mn, 6333)

It is also narrated by Ibnu Ab Htim and others from Ibnu Umar Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth,

On Yawmul Qiymah (the Day of Resurrection), the sign of the one who dies in a state of slandering, criticizing, and giving nicknames to people will be Allh branding him on his nose from both sides of his mouth. (Ibnu Ab Htim Tafsr, Hadth no. 18946; at-Tabarn, al-Mujamul Awsat Hadth no. 8801; al-Mujamul Kabr, Hadth no. 14743)
 1. The yah in full reads,

But you took them in mockery, to the point that they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them. (Muminn 23/110)
 2. The yah in full reads,

O you who believe! Let not a group ridicule another group; perhaps they may be better than them, nor let women ridicule (other) women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by (offensive) nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after (ones) faith. And whosoever does not repent, then such are the Dhlimn (pl. Dhlim; wrong-doers). (Muminn 23/110)

Chapter on Frightening a Muslim

It is narrated from Abdur Rahmn bin Ab Layl that he said: The Ashb (companions) of Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam narrated to us that they were travelling with the Nab Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam. A man amongst them slept, so one of them went with a rope he had with him and seized him. Thereupon, he became terrified. So Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

Verily, it is not Hall (permissible) for a Muslim to frighten his brother (in religion). (Ab Dwd, Hadth no. 5004)

Chapter on the One Who Boasts Regarding (Possessing) something which He has not Been Given

It is narrated from both of them (i.e., al-Bukhr and Muslim) on the authority of Asm Radiyallhu Anh that a women said, O Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam! Verily, I have a co-wife; so would there be any sin on me if I were to boast of (receiving something from) my husband which he has not given me (in order to tease her)? He Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

Verily, the one who boasts regarding (possessing) something that he has not been given is just like one who wears the garment of Zr (falsehood). (al-Bukhr, Hadth no. 5219; Muslim, Hadth no. 2129-2130)
Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah (Rahimahullh) stated,

Chapter on Speaking Regarding Masiyah (Disobedience)

It is narrated from both of them (i.e., al-Bukhr and Muslim) on the authority of Ab Hurayrah Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth,

All of my Ummah (nation) will be forgiven, except for the Mujhirn (pl. Mujhir; those who openly commit sins or disclose their sins to the people). For verily, from al-Mujharah (openly committing sins) is that a man performs a deed (of disobedience) during the night, then wakes up -while Allh had covered the sin- saying, O so-and-so! I committed such-and-such action (of disobedience) yesterday! He had spent the night while His Rabb (Lord) covered him, and he enters upon the morning removing the cover of Allh upon him. (al-Bukhr, Hadth no. 6069; Muslim, Hadth no. 2990)

It was narrated on the authority of Ab Hurayrah Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth (that Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said),

Whoever slanders his slave (of committing az-Zin), the Hadd (punishment) will be imposed upon him on Yawmul Qiymah (the Day of Judgement) -except that the issue is as he said. (Muslim, Hadth no. 1660)

It is narrated on the authority of Buraydah Radiyallhu Anh that he said: Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

Do not say Sayyid (Master) to a Munfiq (hypocrite), for verily, if he becomes a Sayyid (over you), you will have angered your Rabb (Lord). (Ab Dwd, Hadth no. 4977)

Chapter on the Negation of Taking an Oath by a Religion Other than Islm

It is narrated on the authority of Ab Zayd Radiyallhu Anh that he said: Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

Whoever takes an oath -while intentionally lying- by a religion other than Islm; then he is as he has said. (al-Bukhr, Hadth no: 1364; Muslim, Hadth no: 110)

Both of them (i.e. al-Bukhr and Muslim) narrated it.

It is also narrated on the authority of Buraydah Radiyallhu Anh that Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

Whoever takes an oath saying, ( then) I am free from Islm; if he is lying, then he is as he said, and if he is truthful, then he will not return to Islm soundly. (Ab Dwd, Hadth no: 3258; an-Nas, Hadth no: 3772; Ibnu Mjah, Hadth no: 2100)

Ab Dwd narrated it.
Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah (Rahimahullh) stated,

Chapter on what came Regarding Backbiting

The statement of Allhu Tal in the yah,

() and do not backbite one another. (al-Hujurt 49/12)

It is narrated on the authority of Ab Bakrah Radiyallhu Anh that Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said in the Khutbah (religious sermon) on Yawmun Nahr (the Day of Sacrifice),

Which month is this? We kept silent thinking that he would name it with a name other than its original name. He Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said, Is it not Dhl Hijjah? We said, Of course. He said, Thereafter, which town is this? We kept silent thinking that he would name it with a name other than its original name. So he Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said, Is it not the Sacred City of Allh? We said, Of course. He then asked, Which day is it? We kept silent thinking that he would name it with a name other than its original name. He Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said, Is it not the Yawmun Nahr? We said, Of course. He Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said, Indeed, your blood, wealth, and your honor are Harm, just like the sacredness of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours. You shall meet your Rabb (Lord), and He will ask you about your deeds. Beware! Do not revert as Kuffr, some striking the necks of others after my death! Beware! The present one should preach this to the one who is not present, for it may be that the one who is not present will comprehend it better than some of those who were present. Then he Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said, Have I preached (this message)? We said, Yes. He said, O Allh! Be a witness He Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said this thrice. (al-Bukhr, Hadth no. 1741, 1742, 4406, 5550, 6043, 7447; Muslim, Hadth no. 1679)

Both of them (i.e. al-Bukhr and Muslim) narrated it.

It is also narrated from both of them (i.e. al-Bukhr and Muslim) on the authority of Ibnu Umar Radiyallhu Anhum in a Marf Hadth that Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

The Muslim is the one whom the Muslimn are free from his tongue and hands, and the Muhjir (emigrant) is the one who migrates away from what Allh prohibits. (al-Bukhr, Hadth no. 10; Muslim, Hadth no. 41)

It is narrated on the authority of Ab Hurayrah Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth (that Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said),

Whoever eats the flesh of his brother in this Duny (i.e. backbites him), he will be made close to him on the Day of Judgment, and it will be said to him, Eat him while he is dead as you ate him while he was alive. So he will eat him, and he will frown and will scream. (at-Tabarn, al-Mujamul Awsat, Hadth no. 1656; al-Haytham, Majmauz Zawid, Hadth no. 13129)

Ab Yal narrated it with a Hasan (good) chain.

It was narrated by Ibnu Hibbn and he said it was Sahh (authentic)- in the story of Miz that A man said to another, Look at this man who Allh concealed, however, he could not stop himself until he was stoned like a dog being stoned! So the Nab Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said to both of them,

Both of you eat from the corpse of this donkey as you calumniated regarding this man. For verily, what you calumniated is more severe (in sin) than eating this (donkeys) corpse. (Ibnu Hibbn, Hadth no. 1399)

It is narrated from both of them (i.e. al-Bukhr and Muslim) on the authority of Ibnu Abbs Radiyallhu Anhum that the Nab Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam passed by two graves, so he said,

Verily, both of them are being punished, but they are not being punished because of a big (sin). As for one of them, he did not free himself from urine. As for the other, he used to walk around tale-carrying. (al-Bukhr, Hadth no. 216, 218, 1361, 1378, 6052, 6055; Muslim, Hadth no. 292)

Al-Bukhr narrated a similar narration from Jbir Radiyallhu Anh in al-Adabul Mufrad, and it contains,

As for the first, he used to backbite people. (al-Adabul Mufrad, Hadth no. 735)

Ahmad has a Hadth with the same meaning from Ab Bakrah with a Sahh (authentic) chain, and Ab Dwd at-Taylis narrated something similar on the authority of Ibnu Abbs Radiyallhu Anhum with a Jayyid (good) chain. (Ahmad, Hadth no. 1980; at-Taylis, Hadth no. 2768)

It is narrated on the authority of ’ishah Radiyallhu Anh that she said to the Nab Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam, Such and such will be enough for you in Safiyyah. It is said in some narrations that she meant that Safiyyah Radiyallhu Anh was short. The Nab Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

You have said such a word that if it was mixed into the ocean, it would have commixed.

ishah Radiyallhu Anh said: I was narrating to him about a man, and he Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

I do not like that a man was narrated to me while I have such-and-such (faults). (Ab Dwd, 4875; at-Tirmidh, 2502)

Ab Dwd and at-Tirmidh reported it, and at-Tirmidh said, It is Hasan Sahh.

Chapter on what Came Regarding Misguiding the Blind from the Path

It is narrated on the authority of Ab Hurayrah Radiyallhu Anh that the Nab Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam cursed the one who misguides the blind from the path.

Ab Dwd narrated on the authority of Mudh Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth (that Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said),

Whoever protects a Mumin (believer) from a Munfiq (hypocrite) who harmed him, on Yawmul Qiymah (the Day of Judgment), Allh will send an angel to protect his flesh from the fire of Jahannam. And whoever accuses a Muslim intending to disgrace him, Allh will imprison him upon the bridge of Jahannam until he gets out from what he says. (Ab Dwd, Hadth no. 4883)

Chapter on Spreading Immorality between the Muminn (pl. Mumin; Believers)

And the statement of Allhu Tal,

Indeed, those who like that immorality should be spread (or publicized) among those who have believed will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. (an-Nr 24/19)

Chapter on Rushwah (Bribery)

And Allhu Tals statement in the yah,

And do not sell My Verses for a miserable price (al-Baqarah, 2/41; al-Midah 5/44)

It is narrated on the authority of Ibnu Umar Radiyallhu Anhum in a Marf Hadth (that Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said),

Allh cursed the one who gives Rushwah and the one who takes Rushwah.

At-Tirmidhi said the Hadth is Sahh.

And Ahmad narrated on the authority of Thawbn Radiyallhu Anh that

Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam cursed the one who gives Rushwah, the one who takes Rushwah, and ar-Rish. (Ahmad, Hadth no. 22399)

(Ar-Rish) meaning, the one who mediates between the two parties.

Chapter on Presents for the Official Employees by Way of Ghull (Defrauding; Taking Something Unlawful for a Person, Benefiting from it, and Breaching the Trust)

It is narrated on the authority of Ab Humayd that he said: Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam hired a man to collect Sadaqah (charity). When he returned, he said, This is yours, and this was given to me as a present. So Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said,

What is the matter of this man which we employed for a matter which Allh gave us an authority over, then says, This is yours, and this was given to me as a present! Why didnt he sit in his fathers or his mothers house and see whether anything would be gifted to him or not? By Him, in whose Hand the soul of Muhammad is, not a single one of you will take anything without being his right except that he would face Allh and while carrying it on Yawmul Qiymah (the Day of Judgment), even if it is a camel which rambles, a cow which moos, or a sheep which bleats. Then he Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam raised his arms until we saw the whiteness of his armpits. Then he said, O Allh, have I conveyed? He said this three times. (al-Bukhr Hadth no. 7174; Muslim Hadth no. 1463)

Chapter on Gifts for Intercession

It is narrated on the authority of Ab Ummah Radiyallhu Anh in a Marf Hadth (that Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said),

Whoever intercedes for his brother an intercession which he was given a gift for and he accepts the gift; then he has come to a door from the doors of Rib (usury). (Ab Dwd, Hadth no. 3541)

It was narrated by Ab Dwd.

Ibrhm al-Harb narrated from Abdullh bin Masd Radiyallhu Anhu that he said:

As-Suht (devouring illegal things)[1] is asking a man to fulfill a need -which he fulfills-, and he is gifted a gift which he accepts. (Musannaf, Ibnu Ab Shaybah, Hadth no. 20868)

Masrq narrated from Abdullh bin Masd Radiyallhu Anh that (he said),

Whoever wards off oppression from a Muslim, thereafter he gives him a little or a lot in return for it; then it is as-Suht.

I said: O Ab Abdur Rahmn! We only considered as-Suht as Rushwah (bribery) in judgment. He said,

That is Kufr

Then he recited,

And whoever does not judge by what Allh has revealed - then it is those who are the disbelievers. (al-Midah 5/44)
 1. Allhu Tal said,

And you see many of them hurrying for sin and transgression, and eating as-Suht (illegal things). Evil indeed is that which they have been doing. Why do not the rabbis and the religious learned men forbid them from uttering sinful words and from eating as-Suht? Evil indeed is that which they have been performing. (al-Midah 5/62-63)
Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah (Rahimahullh) stated,

Chapter on Ghull (Defrauding; Taking Something Unlawful for a Person, Benefiting from it, and Breaching the Trust from Booty)

And the statement of Allhu Tal in the yah,

It is not for any Prophet to illegally take a part of booty, and whosoever deceives his companions as regards the booty, he shall bring forth on the Day of Resurrection that which he took (illegally). (l-i Imrn 3/161)

It is narrated on the authority of Ab Hurayrah Radiyallhu Anh that he said:

When Allhu Ta'l opened Khaybar, we went to the valley, and Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam had a slave of his with him. When we went to the valley, he was struck with an arrow, and thereupon, he died. So we said, Congratulations be to him with martyrdom o Raslullh! Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said, No, by the One whose Hand my soul is in! The cloak which he took on the day of Khaybar will certainly blaze with fire on him; he took it from the booty which was not divided. Thus, the people were terrified. So a man came with one or two shoelaces and said, O Raslullh! I acquired these on the day of Khaybar! Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said, One or two shoelaces from Nr (fire i.e. Jahannam). (al-Bukhr, Hadth no. 6707; Muslim, Hadth no. 183)

It is narrated by both of them (i.e. al-Bukhr and Muslim).
