The Day of Iyd'ul Fitr and the Salaf
« on: 26.06.2017, 06:02:44 PM »
Bismillah,

Allah Ta'ala blessed us with performing deeds during Ramadhan 1438H. Alhamdulillah. We will miss Ramadhan as we miss an old friend and will be waiting to meet it again with impatience and excitement as we wait to meet an old friend, Inshallah.

Ibnu Rajab al-Hanbali (rahimahullah) mentioned the state of some of the Salaf during the Day of Iyd'ul Fitr in the following manner:

كان بعض السلف يظهر عليه الحزن يوم عيد الفطر فيقال له: إنه يوم فرح وسرور فيقول: صدقتم ولكني عبد أمرني مولاي أن أعمل له عملا فلا أدري أيقبله مني أم لا

"Huzn (sadness) used to be manifested on the faces of some of the Salaf during the Day of Iyd'ul Fitr. It was said to one of them: Surely, it is a day of happiness and joy. Upon which he responded: You are correct however I am a slave and my Mawla (i.e. Allah Ta'ala) commanded me to perform some deeds and I do not know if they will be accepted from me or not! (Ibnu Rajab, Lataif'ul Maa'rif, 209
Shaykhul Islam Ibnu Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) said:

وكل قول ينفرد به المتأخر عن المتقدمين، ولم يسبقه إليه أحد منهم، فإنه يكون خطأ كما قال الإمام أحمد بن حنبل‏‏

"All statements that had been said by the Mutaakhirrin (latter ones) differing from the Mutaqaddimin (predecessors) and that had not been previously mentioned by any other, is a mistake. As Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (rahimahullah) said:

‏إياك أن تتكلم في مسألة ليس لك فيها إمام‏

"Refrain from speaking about a matter without an Imam!.." (Ibnu Taymiyyah, Majmaul Fatawa, 21/291)

Bismillh,

Just a Reminder!
Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah (Rahimahullh) stated,

والعالم يعرف الجاهل؛ لأنه كان جاهلا، والجاهل لا يعرف العالم لأنه لم يكن عالما

"The lim (scholar) recognizes the Jhil (ignorant) since he was once a Jhil. The Jhil does not recognize the lim since he has never been an lim." (Shaykh'ul Islm Ibnu Taymiyyah, Majm'ul Fatw, 13/235)
