بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

A Khutbah Regarding the Ten Days of the Month of Dhul Hijjah

Muhammad bin Abdil Wahhb Rahimahullh[1]

All praise is due to Allh who honoured the days and months some above others,[2] the One who administrates the rulings with legalization and abrogation, and warns the unmindful hearts by remembrance and admonition. The Rabb (Lord), al-Mlik (the Owner) whom in His Rubbiyyah (Lordship), there is no change or elimination, the true Ilh (deity) whom Ilhiyyah (divinity) is not valid except for Him.

I praise Him Subhnahu with that which befits Him with His Ihsn (perfection) and His favouring, and I thank Him upon His plentiful kindness and granting.

I bear witness that there is no -true- deity -worthy of worship- except Allh, He is One and has no partners in His Rubbiyyah, Ilhiyyah, and His Perfect Sift (Attributes). With this testimony, I hope to gain salvation from the severity of the Terrifying Day and its affairs.

I also bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger whom Allh bestowed upon from amongst all of the inhabitants of the Earth by dispatching him and sending him as a messenger.

O Allh, send lots of peace and blessings upon Your slave and messenger Muhammad, and upon all of his companions and his family.

Foreword:

O people fear Allhu Tal as He deserves to be feared. Desire from the acts that which He loves and is pleased with! And know that you are in a blessed month, and a tremendous season, especially these ten blessed (days); for verily, they are known days which Allhu Tal took an oath[3] by in the clear-cut verses. So make use of them, may Allh have mercy upon you by hastening in righteous deeds and by performing many good deeds, for verily, good deeds remove evil deeds![4]

Servants of Allh! These are days of doubling of the good deeds! These are days of answering the Dawt (pl. of Du)! These are days of vastness and breeze! These are days of freeing the slave from the grave sins! And these are the seasons of earning and struggling! These days are such according to those who possess great concern with their regards.

So increase therein the Tasbh and the Tahmd (saying Subhnallh and al-Hamdulillh), the Tahll and the Takbr (saying L Ilha Illllh and Allhu Akbar), seeking forgiveness and repentance, and abstaining from the sins and the evil deeds! And your lives should not pass in heedlessness and persistence in desires, thereby being regretful when no regret avails!

It has been affirmed from Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam that he said,

There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allh than these ten days (in the month of Dhul Hijjah). They said: O Raslullh! Not even waging Jihd in the cause of Allh? He Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam said: Not even waging Jihd in the cause of Allh, except for a man who went out with his self and his wealth, and did not return with anything from that.[5]

It is also narrated from Raslullh Sallallhu Alayhi wa Sallam that he said,

صيام يوم عرفة أحتسب على الله أن يكفر السنة التي قبله والسنة التي بعده.
I anticipate that Allh will forgive (the sins) of the year after fasting the Day of Arafah, and the year before it.[6]

I seek refuge in Allh from the outcast shaytn (devil),

Race one with another in hastening towards Forgiveness from your Lord (Allh) and towards Paradise, the width whereof is as the width of heaven and earth, prepared for those who believe in Allh and His Messengers. That is the Grace of Allh, which He bestows on whom He pleases. And Allh is the Owner of Great Bounty. (al-Hadd 57/21)

May Allh bless me and you with understanding and acting upon the Noble Qurn; and may He benefit me and yourselves with its verses and wise remembrances. I say this, I seek the forgiveness of Allh the Great, the Majestic for myself and yourselves, and for the Muslims as a whole from every sin, so you too seek His forgiveness, for verily, He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
