Names which belong only to Allâh Subhânahu wa Taâlâ1
Ibn’ul Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (Rahimahullâh)
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
وَمِمَّا يمْنَع تَسْمِيَة الْإِنْسَان بِهِ أَسمَاء الرب تبَارك وَتَعَالَى فَلَا يجوز التَّسْمِيَة بالأحد والصمد وَلَا بالخالق وَلَا بالرازق وَكَذَلِكَ سَائِر الْأَسْمَاء المختصة بالرب تبَارك وَتَعَالَى وَلَا تجوز تَسْمِيَة الْمُلُوك بالقاهر وَالظَّاهِر كَمَا لَا يجوز تسميتهم بالجبار والمتكبر وَالْأول وَالْآخر وَالْبَاطِن وعلام الغيوب
The names of the Rabb Tabâraka wa Taâlâ are amongst the names prohibited to name a person with. So it is not permissible to name with “الأحد al-Ahad (the One)”, “الصمد as-Samad (the Eternal)”, “الخالق al-Khâliq (the Creator)”, and “الرازق ar-Râziq (the Provider)”. The other names reserved for the Rabb Tabâraka wa Taâlâ are as such. It is also not permissible to name the kings with “القاهر al-Qâhir (the Irresistibly Supreme)” nor “الظَّاهِر adh-Dhâhir (the Evident)” just as it is not permissible to name them with “الجبار al-Jabbâr (the Compeller)”, “المتكبر al-Mutakabbir (the Majestic)”, “الْأول al-Awwal (the First)”, “الْآخر al-Âkhir (the Last)”, “الْبَاطِن al-Bâtin (the Hidden)” and “علام الغيوب Allâm’ul Ghuyûb (the Knower of the Unseen).”
